MUSEUM OF THE STORIES... FROM THE GOTHIC LINE
Welcome to Castel d'Aiano - Bologna!
The Green Line II Historical Cultural Association was founded in January 2024 with the aim of spreading the history and memory of the people and places that were protagonists of the last phases of World War II.
Here, in that stretch of the Apennines between Bologna and Modena, the front was located where the last battles were fought between November 1944 and the spring of 1945, for the breakthrough of what is known to all as the Gothic Line.
The Museum is dedicated in particular to the soldiers of the 10th Mountain Division and the FEB (the Brazilian Expeditionary Force) and their descendants, but also to the soldiers and their families of all the nations who fought here and lived in close contact with the local population.
With the help of the research work of our team that continues even after the findings made in the field or through donations, some of the objects are accompanied by the stories of the people to whom they belonged, offering a new, more direct vision of the most significant historical context of the last century.
"It's nice to see young people doing everything to keep alive a memory, even if dark, that involved us 80 years ago, in honor of those who gave their lives for the freedom we enjoy today."
